AT LAST THE 1984 SHOW
With Bob Fischer
“Played on the ZX81... had a geedy muck on... watched Robin of Sherwood...”
On 1st January 1984, the 11-year-old Bob Fischer carefully filled out a page of his brand new WHSmiths diary. On the 2nd January 1984, he did it again. And again on 3rd January 1984. In fact, against all odds, he kept writing his diary every day that year, right through until 31st December.
Forty years on, Bob opens the pages of his 1984 diary to relive the dubious glories of his final year at Levendale Primary School. He made robots, built dens, rode his trusty Raleigh Chopper through portals to alternate dimensions* and watched a hell of a lot of telly. He collected Fighting Fantasy books, played Manic Miner and wrote his own (awful) Doctor Who stories. He spent a week terrified of the “Grey Lady” ghost that haunted the dormitories of Carlton Outdoor Education Centre on the North York Moors. He loved his friends, his dog and his parents but he was a bit concerned about nuclear war, especially if it was as bad as Frankie Goes To Hollywood made it out to be.
Join Bob for an evening of unbridled 1980s nostalgia. Diary readings, hilariously wonky photos, terrible drawings and possibly even a short hymn practice after registration.
