Signing Up

Today, the brilliant sign writer Phil Anderson (who went to Egglescliffe Comp back in the 80’s - like the rest of us) turned up with his Mahlstick, chalk line, paints and brushes - and set to work on our new shop sign.

The sign is looking good already; based on the old 40’s shop sign that we discovered beneath Clarke’s 80’s motorbike shop sign - and describing the Waiting Room ‘groceries’ that we will serve within. The shop will be like a real old fashioned village store - with fruit and veg and basics whole-foods, alongside a bang-up-to-date organic bakery and coffee shop; and vegetarian takeaway with wood-fired pizzas. Phil is coming back in the morning to finish it off - then is back next week for more specific sign-writing on our windows.

The tiles above

We do have a fair amount more work to do on the front of the building - slowly slowly; budget, time and weather permitting… We uncovered and restored these tiles above so far as we could. We need to think about sprucing things up towards an official ribbon-cutting date now - in a few weeks time probably, when we our big new bakery deck oven arrives. Our 3-Phase leccy will be connected on February 3rd - with our oven arriving later that week.
