Snaring our snag list

(Regarding our new shop and bakery)

This is the fun bit - is it?.. Getting everything ready to for our grand opening includes a list of lists as long as your arm - and each of those lists is as longs as your tights… Luckily we’ve got some great people helping us. Tomorrow, my friend Garry of Parlour Furniture will come and finish off our bespoke shaping table - topped with a beautiful orange formica to match the stripe at the top of our website… Today, Drew - who recently presented a lovely evening of 8mm showreels in the Waiting Room back room - has been checking our new website, what I have done myself, to make sure that it works and connects to our domain name and so on and so on. Josh and Andrew have been perfecting our pizza dough, Katie’s been seeing if she can get our web-shop to work on a real till too - and ordering real produce for our shop shelves. I’ve been making more mess, with more construction before our floorers come back tomorrow to finish off. We’ve met the engineer from Mono, who are providing our new deck oven, we’ve been ‘maintaining’ our ‘new’ second hand mixer, sheeter and prover. We’ve picked up a mixer from my brother - so that big Mark can concrete-in the trenches that were dug out for our new electrical cabling ducting tomorrow… whilst soaking liquorice root for our new restaurant menu dahl - and Liquorice Pizza topping. The amazing Anna and Tom have been finessing our new restaurant Winter Menu, and Emma has been explaining to interested diners where we’re at with everything.

Meanwhile today we didn’t have a fire, but our poor neighbour did as roofers set her house alight as they torched her flashing (or something). I received dozens of texts to see if we were alright (while around the corner at Campbells Tyres) and returned to find three fire engines on Station Road and lots of smoke billowing from number 3. Our poor neighbour has had terrible luck since moving in a few years ago and already had to move out for a year when her bathroom fitters sawed through all of her bathroom floor joists - causing the room to collapse. Anyway, the fire brigade did put out the fire and our neighbour was very philosophical about the damage to her living room and roof. And in answer to anyone concerned that our bakery had gone up in flames before a loaf has been baked, we’re all safe and sound thank you… and our beautiful new shop front - made by Parlour Furniture - still awaits you across its threshold.

We made the new shop front in May 21… But still didn’t take a finished photograph I realise now, within its surrounding works.
